Certificate II in Security Operations - CPP20212


Security Guard / Crowd Controller

Any person wishing to gain employment within the security industry in Queensland as either of the following:

  • Unarmed Security Officer or
  • Crowd Controller

Must hold a Security Licence issued by the Office of Fair Trading.

To obtain an Unarmed Security Officer licence, you must successfully complete the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations approved training course.

The units of competency required to be completed for the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course are:

  • CPPSEC2001A   Communicate effectively in the security industry
  • CPPSEC2002A   Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry
  • CPPSEC2003B   Work effectively in the security industry
  • CPPSEC2004B   Respond to security risk situation
  • CPPSEC2005A   Work as part of a security team
  • CPPSEC2006B   Provide security services to clients
  • HLTFA311A          Apply First Aid
  • CPPSEC2011B   Control access to and exit from premises
  • CPPSEC2012A   Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour
  • CPPSEC2014A   Operate basic security equipment
  • CPPSEC2015A   Patrol premises
  • CPPSEC2017A   Protect self and others using basic defensive techniques

To obtain a Crowd Control licence, you must successfully complete an additional four (4) units of competency (^Crowd Control Unit Bundle), from the CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations training package, plus the *CPR unit, if you have not completed the CPR component in the last 12 months.These units are:

  • CPPSEC3003A   Determine response to security risk situation
  • CPPSEC3007A   Maintain security of environment
  • CPPSEC3013A   Control persons using empty hand techniques
  • CPPSEC3002A   Manage conflict through negotiation

*HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Eligibility

Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

Participants are not eligible for a licence if they have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the past 10 years, where a conviction was recorded.  Participants must also advise the Office of Fair Trading if they have been found guilty of a disqualifying offence in the past 5 years, where a conviction was not recorded (this is known as an "unrecorded finding of guilt").  The Office of Fair Trading may ask participants for further information to assess if a participant is a suitable person to hold a licence.

A criminal history check is one of the requirements conducted by the Office of Fair Trading when applying for a Security Licence. It is the responsibility of each participant to check their eligibility with the Office of Fair Trading prior to booking into this course. If participants book into the course and realise they are not eligible, no refund will be applicable.

Course Delivery Methods and Costs

Blended - Face-to-face six (6) day course:

  • The CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course is conducted every three (3) weeks, Monday to Thursday, plus First Aid on Saturday commencing at 8.30am and runs for approximately seven (7) hours each day. This program includes a variety of training and assessment methods including self paced study (pre/post classroom self study). This course will need to be completed within six (6) months of enrolment. The training is delivered by instructors with 'real life' experience in the security industry.

The cost of the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course is normally $395 for the security component of the course and $110 for the first aid component ($505 in total) however if you enrol in any of the remaining Certificate II courses for 2017 the cost of both courses will be $395.

  • *For participants who enrol in CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course and require HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as an additional unit of competency, the cost of this unit of competency is $25.This course is run every 3 weeks, Monday to Thursday, plus Saturday commencing at 8.30am and runs for approximately seven (7) hours each day. This program includes a variety of training and assessment methods including self paced study (pre/post classroom self study). This course will need to be completed within six (6) months of enrolment.The total cost of the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations, with the additional HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation unit of competency is $530.

  • ^For participants who enrol in the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course, and require the additional four (4) crowd control units; the additional four (4) crowd control units of competency bundle is $150. This course is conducted every three (3) weeks, Monday to Saturday commencing at 8.30am and runs for approximately seven (7) hours each day. This program includes a variety of training and assessment methods including self paced study (pre/post classroom self study). This course will need to be completed within six (6) months of enrolment.The total cost of the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course, with the additional four (4) Crowd Control unit bundle is $655.

  • * ^For participants who enrol in the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course, and require the additional four (4) crowd control units and the HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation unit of competency the total cost will be $680.  This course is conducted every three (3) weeks, Monday to Saturday commencing at 8.30am and runs for approximately seven (7) hours each day. This program includes a variety of training and assessment methods including self paced study (pre/post classroom self study). This course will need to be completed within six (6) months of enrolment.

  • ^ For participants who require the (4) crowd control units only the cost will be $225.

*Please Note* - If you are already current in Apply First Aid HLTFA311A (including currency in HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and you can provide a copy of your certificate/s you will be eligible for a $100 reduction in the cost of the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Certificate II in Security Operations CPP20212 RPL Application fee:  $395
Gap units - any units required to be completed:  $50 per unit (up to a maximum of 4 units)

As soon as payment is received, a confirmation email will be sent with the RPL Kit attached for completion.This documentation must be completed and submitted within 2 months of booking.

Once your RPL application is received, an assessor will evaluate it.The assessor will then contact you for a face-to-face meeting to discuss their findings and clarify any other issues.

Please note: The RPL process will not provide you with the full licensing requirements. We are only able to RPL the following units for the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations course:
