LVR
Low Voltage Rescue - 39253QLD
What is LVR?
Low Voltage Rescue is performing a safe rescue of a casualty who has received an electric shock or other injuries while working on low voltage conductors or equipment including switchboards. The LVR course is specifically designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to achieve this.
It is a requirement of the Electrical Safety Regulation 2002, contained within the Queensland Electrical Safety Act 2002 that, "An employer must ensure workers who are required to perform, or help in performing, electrical work are competent in rescue and resuscitation in accordance with recognised practices in the electricity industry."
LVR Course Content
The course is comprised of four (4) elements:
-
Describe the basic principles of risk assessment as applied to low voltage rescue situations (e.g. Identify risks associated with low voltage rescue situations; problem solving)
-
Identify the general principles that form the basis of the rescue of a person in a low voltage rescue situation (e.g. demonstrate the safe use of a fire blanket to eliminate flames and minimise burns; problem solving)
-
Demonstrate low voltage rescue procedures in a simulated situation including the use of the one man drag method (e.g. demonstrate the removal of a victim from the source of injury and movement of an unconscious victim to a clear safe area including risk assessment, use of the low voltage rescue kit and the one man drag method)
-
Describe the treatment to be administered to victims of low voltage electrocution whilst awaiting medical assistance (i.e. describe the action to be taken in the case of airway burns, general burns, flash burns to the eyes and general bleeding)
Participants will be required to demonstrate essential knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform all tasks outlined in these elements. This includes Perform Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
